Celebrating Black Culture and August Wilson
Orlando Watson, August Wilson African-American Cultural Center
Many years ago, a small band of community leaders envisioned a single African-American arts facility where people from all over could gather to celebrate Black culture. Their wish was for it to be located in Pittsburgh's Cultural District and serve as a national showplace for collective history, art, music, literature, theater. Orlando Watson, Sr. Dir. of Programming at the August Wilson African-American Cultural Center in Pgh, talks with host Tate Blanchard about celebrating Black arts & culture, and the life and work of its Tony and Pulitzer Prize winning namesake. awaacc.org
