Substance Use Disorder Treatment

Teresa Garate - Gateway Foundation

Gateway Foundation is the largest non-profit provider of Substance Use Disorder treatment in the US with a presence in nine states. Since its humble beginnings 50 years ago they have touched more than a million lives and have been a leader in Addiction Medicine. Gateway Foundation uses evidenced based practices to deliver person-centered and interdisciplinary care to almost 30000 people a year making a difference in their lives and the lives of the people around them. Now more than ever, when overdose is the leading cause of death among people under 50 and suicide is on the rise, the expansion of Gateway's reach is critical to ensure access to as many people as possible. According to SAMHSA only 11% of people who need treatment for their substance use disorder access care. Gateway Foundation's mission is to reduce substance use and co-occurring mental health problems through effective and efficient treatment programs. The only way to expand the reach is to educate and engage with community partners to end the stigma associated with these diseases and increase access for all.
