Combating Homelessness in Michigan Part 1

Since 2015, homelessness has dropped 9% to 66,483 as 2,680 more people found a place to live between 2015 and 2016. The Michigan State Housing Development Authority and the Michigan Interagency Council on Homelessness believe that housing is a basic need and the elimination of homelessness is an achievable goal. No man, woman, or child should be forced to sleep on the streets, in the woods, or on a cot in a shelter on any night, in any town or city in Michigan. Any homeless experience should be brief, rare, and non-recurring. The Michigan Interagency Council on Homelessness and it's partners are working together to end homelessness by providing the most vulnerable members of Michigan's society with access to the housing, services, and income supports they need in a time frame they deserve. They are committed to articulate, embrace, and implement state and local Plans to End Homelessness across the entire state.
