Value Added Products: Teaching Farmers For Financial Success

Nicolette Spudic, Chatham University

Farmers that do best financially are the ones that have a number of different income streams and a number of different business arms on their farm. But farmers are busy farming and don’t know how to be marketers. Nicolette Spudic, Food Initiative Lab Manager at the Center for Regional Agriculture Food and Transformation, at Chatham University, tells host Tate Blanchard about a program that teaches farmers and food businesses about creating value-added products and services to help them compete better in the regional food economy and possibly keep their farm going once they retire.
