American Heroes: Japanese American Soldiers in WWII

with Mitchell Maki of the Go For Broke National Education Center

Following the attack on Pearl Harbor in 1941, Executive Order 9066 was issued, resulting in nearly 120,000 people of Japanese descent being forcibly removed from their homes and sent to live in war relocation centers. Despite widespread discrimination facing this community, more than 33,000 Japanese Americans volunteered to serve in the U.S. military during World War II.

Mitchell Maki, President and CEO of the Go For Broke National Education Center, joins host Tetiana Anderson to share the story behind one of the most decorated military units in U.S. history.
