Changing Lifelong Impact of Youth Homelessness

AJ Jefferson, Homeless Children's Education Fund

Having a home creates stability that many people may not think about. Youth experiencing homelessness may have to change environments and schools many times in a year, creating major setbacks that can last a lifetime. Guest Ardana “AJ” Jefferson, Executive Director of the Homeless Children's Education Fund, tells host Sheila Hyland about providing educational support, emergency services and wraparound care to the more than 3,000 Allegheny County homeless kids, and how receiving a high school education can help them acquire a livable wage to keep them from a lifelong cycle of poverty and homelessness.homelessfund.org
