From Marine Corps Infantry to Indiana State Lawmaker: Meet Representative Ross Deal

Indiana State Representative Ross Deal (D-7) is a new face around the statehouse but brings with him a plethora of experience. From Mishawaka, Mr. Deal served in the United States Marine Corp from 1975-1978 before attending the Indiana Law Enforcement Academy and establishing himself as class president. Following graduation from ILEA, Deal served as a member of the Mishawaka Police Department from 1981-1991; rising to the rank of captain. Today, Deal works as an insurance agent. He recently resigned from the Mishawaka Common Council in 2018 after serving two years. He previously served on the same council from 2008-2011. Representative Deal succeeds Joe Taylor III as the new 7th District representative in the Indiana House. Interview filmed on March 20, 2019.
