Developing Asian American and Pacific Islander Leaders part 2
with Harin Contractor of The Washington Leadership Program
The political influence of South Asian Americans is on the rise, with four new members of Congress and more and more state and local elected official with each election. Traditionally, the chosen careers for this population include doctors, lawyers, and engineers, to name a few. There are efforts within the community to encourage South Asian Americans to consider non-traditional fields, including politics and policy. Harin Contractor, Founder of The Washington Leadership Program, discusses this rapidly changing dynamic and how his organization is connecting students to the political process.
