Perspectives On Black History
Ron Scott Jr., YWCA Wheeling
In 1926, Negro History Week was started as a way for people to learn about Black culture and Black history. It has grown into today’s month-long observance in February, known as Black History Month. Guest Ron Scott Jr., Cultural Diversity and Community Outreach Director for the YWCA Wheeling, talks with host Sheila Hyland about some history behind this celebration, and shares his thoughts on 2023’s theme of Black Resistance, not as a call to arms, but illustrations of the Black History journey in our country. ywcawheeling.org
