From Crisis to Empowerment in the LGBTQ+ Community and Beyond

This Comcast Newsmakers segment showcases Denver based non-profit, Envision: You, that is working hard to change the statistics around mental health issues and substance abuse disorders among the LGBTQ+ community.

LGBTQ+ people suffer mental health issues at a rate three times higher than their cis, straight counterparts and experience much higher rates of substance abuse disorders as well. Currently, 60% of queer folks have a less than ideal experience when they go into a health care setting due to the lack of affirming resources available to them.
