According to the Williams Institute, there are more than 1 million LGBTQ African Americans currently living in the United States. Curtis Lipscomb of LGBT Detroit discusses past leaders like Bayard Rustin who was a civil rights organizer and activist, best known for his work as adviser to Martin Luther King Jr. in the 1950s and '60s.
