Vibrant Park District

The Rockford Park District heavily engaged the community last year to find out what their wants and needs are along with what services they value. We want to make sure that we remain a vibrant and relevant park system but we also have some major financial challenges as the District's two main revenue streams, property taxes and fees has decreased over the years. The community has said loud and clear that neighborhood parks, playgrounds, youth programs, trails, Washington Park Community Center, arts and cultural programs, and youth programs are very important but in order to invest in those priority areas we have to reduce our footprint and find ways to bring in alternative revenue.
