Since 1965, family-based immigration has been the primary pathway for people to immigrate to the United States. Currently, there are more than 3.6 million people waiting to be reunited with their families due to visa backlogs. Some aspiring immigrants are subject to wait times of more than 20 years. Grace Pai of Asian Americans Advancing Justice | Chicago is a leader in a national campaign to protect and strengthen family reunification.
