It was 1952 in Detroit, and a small group of parents led by Sylvia and Harry Brown found themselves bonded by a common tragedy – each of them had lost a child to leukemia. Together, they vowed that no family would go through the struggles they had faced alone. Children’s Leukemia Foundation of Michigan was formed. In 1957, CLF expanded to serve adults when the Board of Directors realized that the whole family suffers when any member is diagnosed with blood cancer. Since then, CLF has grown into a state wide organization dedicated to providing compassionate, personalized support to any Michigan child, adult, or family affected by leukemia, lymphoma, or other blood related disorder. Throughdisease information & resources, emotional support, financial assistance and events & opportunities for fun, we currently help more than 3,200 families maintain their quality of life while dealing with leukemia, non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma, Hodgkin’s disease, multiple myeloma, aplastic anemia, Fanconi’s anemia, myelodysplastic syndromes, myeloproliferative disorders, Waldenstrom’s macroglobulinemia and many other diseases.
