Special Olympics kicked off their 50th Anniversary Celebration in Chicago this summer, returning to the hometown of their first event, the 1968 International Summer Games. The golden anniversary of the games celebration included the first-ever Special Olympics Unified Cup; a star-studded Global Day of Inclusion; a Law Enforcement Torch Run Commemorative Run; a ceremonial lighting of the Special Olympics Eternal Flame of Hope, which symbolized our burning passion for inclusion and justice for people with intellectual disabilities. Join Comcast Newsmakers as we honor the history of the Special Olympic and look forward to the next 50 years of the Inclusion Revolution and launch the movement into the future.
