Stand for the Arts
Collaboraction, Chicago’s home for social-issue driven contemporary theatre, announced it has been selected as the Chicago recipient of Ovation’s first ever “Stand For The Arts Award” in partnership with Comcast. Stand for the Arts, Ovation’s signature arts advocacy campaign, is a national initiative to raise awareness, protect access, and encourage action on behalf of the arts. Ovation is partnering with Comcast to recognize outstanding local arts, cultural and educational organizations and programs in local Comcast markets across the country.

The LGBT Equality Caucus
In June 2008, Reps. Tammy Baldwin, D-Wis., and Barney Frank, D-Mass., established the Congressional LGBT Equality Caucus. That same year, Rep. Jared Polis, D-Colo., was elected to Congress, becoming the first openly gay male elected as a freshman congressman.
