The National Institute on Aging reports that people are in fact living longer due in part to the advances in science, technology and medicine. In fact, every day, 10,000 baby boomers turn 65 years of age and will represent nearly 26 percent of the country's population (70 million) by 2030. As a result, families and communities alike need to prepare for, respond to and embrace this realization in order to help individuals age in place. Thankfully, community based organizations like PLOWS Council on Aging can help an individual and/or family navigate the aging lifecycle. Ken Grunke, Executive Director for PLOWS Council on Aging, highlights the importance of these critical (and often times underutilized) community resources.
