Read a partial transcript of the interview here:
Bennett: Your downtown is continuing to grow. Tell me about it.
Fewell: We just completed a revitalization plan for downtown. We received a grant through OCRA for persuing that. It also makes it interesting because the property owners themselves had a buy in. We feel good about making things happen because they want to make it happen.
Bennett: It gives it some of a new look, even though they are older buildings.
Fewell: Well most of our downtown is historic in itself. Anything they do they have to stay within the scope of historic preservation. When you are changing it, it has to comply with architectural, codes and all the other interesting things that make a historic preservation come alive.
Bennett: What about housing downtown
Fewell: We are looking for more. We have a new place near the trail. The trail extends from city limit to city limit. We want them to live and stay in Greenfield.
Bennett: Quickly, I wanted to ask you about the downtown theatre. Are you seeking funding for that theatre
Fewell: That is a county owned structure. That amenity is going to have to be kept. It is used a lot. We need to make sure we keep that place open because it is a beautiful old theatre and again is in the historic region, so we want to take care of it.
