Posted Oct 31, 2017
The Social Impact Philanthropy & Investment team is providing wrap-around services to social enterprises and nonprofits by offering training programs that enable residents of legacy cities to pursue life-changing career opportunities. Legacy cities are older, industrial urban areas that have experienced significant population and job loss, resulting in high residential vacancy and diminished service capacity and resources. Jason Ball of Social Impact Philanthropy & Investment joins host Laurel Hess to talk about their work in the City of Flint. Interview recorded October 26th, 2017.

Helping Under Employed Adults

The WMCAT Adult Career Training program offers under and unemployed men and women the opportunity to learn a new career, while growing personally and professionally. Their small class sizes, deep impact and extra services move adults toward new careers in the medical coding, medical billing and pharmacy technician fields. These are careers that pay living wages, may offer benefits, and provide opportunity for career advancement.
