The Social Impact Philanthropy & Investment team is providing wrap-around services to social enterprises and nonprofits by offering training programs that enable residents of legacy cities to pursue life-changing career opportunities. Legacy cities are older, industrial urban areas that have experienced significant population and job loss, resulting in high residential vacancy and diminished service capacity and resources. According to the CDC, 28.2 percent of adults in Michigan have some type of disability. Despite progress, adults with disabilities in Michigan and across the country continue to experience significant differences in health characteristics and behaviors compared to adults without disabilities.
