Mental Health Care and the Criminal Justice System

Sheriff Tom Dart has said that the Cook County Jail is one of the largest mental health facilities in the country. Far too many people are incarcerated because of mental illness and many people in jail are in need of mental health services. We know that we can prevent incarceration and future arrests if we get people into therapy, not jail. We have proven models of care that can achieve this.

Comcast Cares Day 2018 - Marklund Wasmond Center
Marklund is a nonprofit organization that serves infants, children, teens and adults with serious and profound developmental disabilities and special healthcare needs. Comcast volunteers showed their support by painting, building planter boxes, fixing up resident bedrooms, and general cleaning at the facility.
