In September, Chicago's Homeless Management Information System (HMIS) reported that 2,785 single women were experiencing homelessness in Chicago. These women, making up 28% of Chicago's homeless population, are often overlooked and under served.
One of only two organizations in the city serving exclusively single woman, Sarah's Circle
is the only agency to offer a full continuum of care, designed to end homelessness for women. With a Daytime Support Center open to all women, a 50-bed Interim Housing Program, Permanent Supportive Housing, case management, and clinical services, Sarah's Circle addresses a wide spectrum of issues that are the root causes of a woman's homelessness. Kathy Ragnar, Executive Director of Sarah's Circle, discusses how the organization is working to end homelessness for women.
