Michigan is unfortunately, among the top states for high fire fatalities every year. Fire safety must be an everyday vigilant practice in every home throughout the State of Michigan. The Bureau of Fire Services mission is to provide protection of persons and property from exposure to the dangers of fire through inspection and fire prevention and to serve the training needs of over 30,000 fire fighters in the state of Michigan. The Michigan Women's Commission was created by statute in 1968. The Commission reviews the status of women in Michigan, directing attention to critical problems confronting women, recommending ways of overcoming discrimination, enabling women to develop skills, making surveys and recognizing women's accomplishments and contributions to Michigan.
