"We aim to work with kids who are living in communities that are not well-served by their schools, who don?t have a lot of opportunity for enrichment activities outside of school, and as a result, often don?t get the support they need to succeed in their lives in general."

Recent reports show that close to 40 percent of Philadelphia's children live in poverty. Those children are less likely to participate in sports and have higher high school drop-out rates than the overall student population. Heidi Warren, Executive Director of the Starfinder Foundation discusses using sports, soccer in particular, to help children develop skills for success. "We aim to work with kids who are living in communities that are not well-served by their schools, who don't have a lot of opportunity for enrichment activities outside of school, and as a result, often don't get the support they need to succeed in their lives in general. And sport is a great way to engage kids." Visit the Starfinder Foundation on the web, on Facebook or follow on Twitter.
