President of Texas American Saddle Horse Association and Riding Instructor at Lone Star Saddlebreds
. TASHA's priority is to promote the American Saddlebred to the general public and demonstrate its versatility and athleticism through competitive events.
2. The American Saddlebreds' ancestors include the Narragansett Pacer, Canadian Pacer, Morgan and Thoroughbred breeds. It has the size and quality of a Thoroughbred and the ambling gaits and stamina of the Pacer breeds. The American Saddlebred can be driven or ridden for pleasure or in competition. It is often the horse of choice for beginner adult riders and kids.
3. There are over 100 horse rescue organizations across the country. Saddlebreds are also among horses that are rescued. TASHA is a major contributor to Saddlebred Rescue, a national non-profit organization based in New Jersey.
TASHA is a charter club member of the American Saddlebred Horse Association. Its mission is to promote, improve and protect the grace, intelligence and versatility of the American Saddlebred and to provide programs and services supporting our members while fostering public awareness of the breed.
2. American Saddlebreds are very versatile equine athletes. They are known for having an extremely acute sense of hearing, high intelligence, excellent personalities, and a smooth riding or driving gait. These horses walk, trot, canter, slow gait, and rack in high-stepping style. Celebrities like William Shatner and Misdee Wrigley Wright (of Wrigley's gum) own and breed American Saddlebreds
