Between 1997 and 2014, the number of women-owned businesses in the U.S. rose by 68 percent. More than 9.1 million firms are owned by women, employing nearly 7-point-9 million people and generating 1.4 trillion dollars in sales, as of 2014. Kristie Arslan, Executive Director of Women Impacting Public Policy, discusses the growth of these businesses, as well as some hurdles they face.
