"My entire community, and all minority communities are just as committed to national security as anyone else."
Posted May 27, 2015
For the past 14 years Congress has debated proposed legislation intended to stop profiling by law enforcement around the country. A bill has never been passed. The legislation would not just deal with racial profiling, it would also impact religious minorities, like Sikhs. With Jasjit Singh,Executive Director of the SIKH American Legal Defense and Education Fund. Singh stated, "My entire community, and all minority communities are just as committed to national security as anyone else. And as a part of that commitment to national security, we want to have a law enforcement which is educated about the difference between cultural norms, religious practices, and what is truly suspicious behavior."
