?Literacy Advance provides free classes for adults to gain basic English reading, writing, listening and speaking skills. These skills lead to better jobs and better school success for their children.
'?The biggest influence on a child's academic success is the literacy level of their parents.
'?The upcoming Scrabble event is a fun filled night of Scrabble like you have never seen or played before. The night includes costume contests, point enhancers, food and of course some great St. Arnold beverages.
'?All the proceeds will benefit the nearly 3,000 adults and families served each year through Literacy Advance programs.
'?There is a real literacy crisis in Houston. 1 in 5 Houstonians lack the basic reading, writing, listening or speaking skills to maintain an entry level job.
'?All of Literacy Advance classes and programs are delivered through our 300 plus highly trained volunteers.
