The Houston Area Urban League (HAUL) was organized in June, 1968 as a nonprofit 501(c)3 agency. Affiliated with the United Way and National Urban League, HAUL advocates for and provides social services to disadvantaged people of all races, gender, age groups and or disabilities. HAUL operates the following five (5) programs targeting residents in economically disadvantaged geographic areas in the Greater Houston areas: Education and Youth Development; Workforce and Economic Development; Workforce Training; Housing; and Health and Wellness Initiatives.

This June, expect to be engaged, enraptured and invigorated when classical music's rising stars perform major classical and contemporary works by luminaries including Daniel Catan, Chausson, Elgar, Mussorgsky, Rachmaninoff, Ravel, Shostakovich and Strauss, among others, at the 28th Annual Immanuel and Helen Olshan Texas Music Festival (TMF).
The TMF "Cool & Classical" Orchestra Series, staged on four consecutive Saturday nights June 10 through July 1, will showcase the crame de la crame of pre-professional musicians here to study and perform with world-class conductors, soloists and faculty artists at the University of Houston (UH) Moores Opera House and the Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion. This year marks the TMF conducting debuts of Andras Franco June 17 and Brett Mitchell June 23-24.

The Rose uses advanced digital technology to screen women for breast cancer through two diagnostic centers and a fleet of Mobile Mammography Vans.
