3.CIS is based on the belief that programs don't change people- relationships do! By providing and facilitating community resources centered around specific needs, CIS is able to provide and build meaningful relationships that produce better students and stronger families, which leads to reduced dropout rates, and increased promotion and graduation rates.
Comcast NBCU Elevates Houston Community with Mayor's History Makers Awards
In celebration of Black History Month, Comcast recently announced a partnership with City of Houston Mayor, Sylvester Turner, to honor 10 Houston community volunteers at the first-ever Mayor’s History Makers Awards held on February 9, 2018. Held at the Houstonian Hotel, the honorees were recognized for their commitment to making a difference in the community through volunteerism, mentorship, advocacy and civic engagement.
The volunteers were commended as exceptional individuals having demonstrated selfless commitment in their communities. They played a vital role in positive change and continue to help celebrate diversity in the city of Houston. As part of the recognition, each honoree will be featured in a 30-second Public Service Announcement that will air on Comcast cable. In addition, Comcast NBCUniversal will also donate $1,000 to the nonprofit organization of the honoree’s choice.
