2.Five Principals of CIS and the Services: A one-on-one relationship with a caring adult; A safe place to learn and grow; A healthy start and a healthy future;. A marketable skill to use upon graduation; and,
A chance to give back to peers and community.
CIS Services: Supportive Guidance, Academic Support, Parental Involvement, Social Service Referrals, Career Awareness, and Enrichment
3.CIS is based on the belief that programs don't change people- relationships do! By providing and facilitating community resources centered around specific needs, CIS is able to provide and build meaningful relationships that produce better students and stronger families, which leads to reduced dropout rates, and increased promotion and graduation rates.
Child Advocates and the McDonald's Houston Children's Festival
Every 9 minutes, a child in Texas experiences abuse or neglect. Nearly 4,000 children in the Houston area have experienced such life-threatening abuse or neglect that they had to be removed from their homes and placed in foster care. Child Advocates trains everyday people to advocate for the best interests of these children in court so they can find safe, permanent homes as quickly as possible. Ashley Brockette, PR/Marketing talks about how you can support the organization.
