?The Periwinkle Foundation develops and provides programs that positively change the lives of children, young adults and families who are challenged by cancer and other life threatening illnesses and are cared for at Texas Children's Hospital.
'?The mission of the Arts In Medicine program at Texas Children's Cancer and Hematology Centers is to provide enjoyable and educational art activities that give current and previous patients, young adults, families and caregivers the opportunity for self-expression, empowerment and healing through the arts.
'?In 2014, The Periwinkle Foundation announced an official program expansion to include additional funding and resources for the Arts In Medicine Program at Texas Children's Cancer & Hematology Centers.
'?Making A Mark, an exhibition of art by children with cancer and blood disorders, reaching the entire community through traveling exhibits at several Houston locations: IAH and Hobby Airports, City Hall Annex, Glassell Jr. School and BG Group.
- Over 15,000 children will be diagnosed with cancer in 2014. 600 of them will be treated at Texas Children's Cancer & Hematology Centers.
- The Periwinkle Foundation touches the lives of over 4,000 children, teens and families who have been affected by this diagnosis.
- The Periwinkle Foundation relies heavily on volunteer support for the continuation and expansion of our programs. In 2013 over 28,000 volunteer hours were logged.
