CHA Mary Hartwell Catherwood Apartments is the second largest public housing agency in the U.S. and provides stable, decent, safe and affordable housing to more than 62,000 low-income families, individuals, and seniors in Chicago.
Volunteers participated in arts & crafts and other activities with seniors throughout the day. They also created a new space for residential “bookworms” and spruced up activity rooms.

Specific projects will included:
* Creating a new library for residents! It included cleaning, painting, and decorating an under-utilized room, and move bookshelves scattered throughout the complex to the library and/or assemble new bookshelves. Volunteers also collected donated books throughout the week of Comcast Cares Day to enhance the library’s catalog.
* Helping seniors express their creativity and unique skills they have! Volunteers worked with residents to create art work and craft projects, and hosted a talent show.
* Teached residents basic computer skills so they can feel confident in using technology to stay connected with loved ones.
* Cleaned, freshened and livened the community exercise room and potentially lead seniors through exercise activities.
