The best kind of entitlement, of course. Announced a “Stellar Community” in 2014, the city of Huntingburg is still reaping the rewards of that title. Mayor Denny Spinner highlights what the dollar from the stellar award to being used for today.

The City of Huntingburg was designated as a “Stellar Community” in August 2014. It is currently one of only eight communities in the State of Indiana to receive the designation.
The Stellar Communities Program is a multi-agency partnership designed to fund comprehensive community development projects in Indiana’s smaller communities. State partners include the Indiana Housing and Community Development Authority (IHCDA),Indiana Office of Community and Rural Affairs (OCRA), and Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT).
Stellar Communities has been recognized nationally as a premier community development program when it received the 2012 President’s Award for Innovation from the Council of State Community Development Agencies (COSCDA).

Each of the projects included as part of our Stellar Strategic Investment Plan has to go through the funding and grant programs as outlined by the various state agencies. The Huntingburg projects will be initiated over a four-year time frams as outlined by the state. In order to complete the desgin and engineering for our projects, construction is anticipated to be underway during 2017-2018, with completion in 2019 and beyond.
