Economic Upturn in the Hoosier State

With Director of Government Affairs Brian Gould, IACT

Indiana Local

The Hoosier state is in a stretch of economic upturn. Gould highlights how critical it is for Indiana to continue to provide the services and welcoming agenda to corporations  and business seeking to establish themselves within the state.

“I think one of the key things for local government right now is that we’re really seeing a turn out of the 2008/2009 recession.  We’re starting to see growth; economic development occuring.  A key part of that is the attraction and the factor that local communities; cities and towns, play in attracting that growth to our state.” –  Director of Government Affairs, Brian Gould, Indiana Association of Cities and Towns (IACT).

Highlights of the IACT Annual Conference!

Last week over a thousand municipal officials, experts and state officials gathered in French Lick for the 2016 IACT Annual Conference & Exhibition. The conference kicked off with a special announcement from IACT CEO and Executive Director Matt Greller. Our modernized organization will have a new name, new website and more in the new year!

The second day included an Annual Awards Luncheon and Presidents’ Reception where we honored communities and individuals for their achievements. Check out all the winners and take a few ideas back to your community!

The conference wrapped up with a Closing Lunch where voting delegates from the IACT membership voted in the 2017 officers including Evansville Mayor Lloyd Winnecke as the President. Attendees also heard from gubernatorial candidates Lieutenant Governor Eric Holcomb and John Gregg.

Thank you to all of you in attendance. We look forward to seeing you in Evansville, October 10-12, 2017!
