ReelAbilities Houston, a free, city-wide film and arts festival to promote inclusion and celebrate the lives, stories and talents of people with disabilities. Two pre-events happen this month:
ReelArt: The Art of Celebration opens Saturday, January 16, 2016 at the Nicole Longnecker Gallery. The exhibit will feature visual art and photography from the Celebration Company, an entrepreneurial program for adults living with disabilities.
ReelMusic: An All-Inclusive Jazz and Blues Jam premiers on Saturday, January 23, 2016 at Houston Community College (Spring Branch).
Festival kicks off February 11th with ReelPeople: UP Abilities, in partnership with The UP Experience, offering inspiring speakers with thoughtful, provoking presentations on mental and physical disabilities and topics of inclusion. Speakers Drew Lynch, Eleanor Longden, Joey Travolta, Kevin Pearce.
The film festival is February 14 – 18, featuring 23 award-winning full-length, shorts, and international films. Include highlights of Bi-Polarized, The Finishers, Keep the Change.
Edwards Grand Palace Stadium 24 will be the official home of ReelAbilities Festival Houston, hosted by the JFS Alexander Institute for Inclusion in collaboration with Houston’s Mayor’s Office for People with Disabilities.
